The commercial challenge
An international distributor serves customers with different assortments, ordering habits and delivery requirements. The digital experience needs to support those differences while staying clear. B&S described King of Reach in its 2022 annual report as a new platform supporting further digitalisation.
The approach
Start with the customer group and work back to the process. Which products should this customer see? Which price and availability matter? What information allows an order to be processed without extra manual work? A shared data model and clear system responsibilities make those questions manageable.
Technology and processes
Sylius provides a commerce engine for customer groups, channels and ordering. Akeneo can act as the PIM to manage and enrich product data centrally for each market. Connections to ERP, stock and logistics align the commercial promise with operations. This describes the architectural approach, rather than a complete inventory of the implemented King of Reach environment.
Technology and versions
The public platform contains Sylius references. The version in use and the specific Akeneo implementation are not publicly confirmed by the sources reviewed. Sylius 2.0 is therefore discussed as a platform development consideration, not as a claim about this implementation.
Konrad’s contribution
Originem was involved in delivering the platform. Konrad contributed through Originem in commercial vision, strategy and advisory work. Development and integration are team efforts; the technical implementation is not attributed to him personally.
The lesson for other organisations
Make international differences explicit before selecting software. Central product information, clear ownership and reliable integrations allow room for each market without requiring a separate system for every country.
